The Eglinton Crosstown LRT (Line 5) is one of the largest transit infrastructure projects in Toronto, stretching 19 kilometers across the city and connecting major neighborhoods from Mount Dennis to Kennedy. Designed to improve mobility and reduce commute times, the project required durable and functional transit site furnishings to support thousands of daily riders.

Canaan Site Furnishings contributed to the project by supplying commercial outdoor benches, bike racks, and recycling stations for multiple stations along the line. These installations were designed to improve passenger comfort, support bicycle accessibility, and maintain clean, organized station environments throughout the transit corridor.

Transit Furniture Designed for High-Traffic Stations

Transit environments require site furnishings that can withstand constant use, changing weather conditions, and long-term maintenance demands. For the Eglinton Crosstown LRT, Canaan worked closely with project teams and transit authorities to provide durable commercial site furniture suited for high-traffic public infrastructure.

Key products installed across the stations include:

  • Commercial benches for passenger seating areas
  • Bike racks to support cycling access to transit
  • Recycling and waste receptacles to maintain station cleanliness

Each product was selected to balance durability, accessibility, and modern urban design, ensuring the furnishings integrate seamlessly with the architectural character of the new transit stations.
